The Structured Document (SD) file format is an ultra-portable, simple        
set of rules for formatting documents. It offers enhanced functionality
when viewed with a specialized browser.
 
Each SD is an ASCII (or extended ASCII) file that is formatted using
a set of simple rules. It can be viewed with any text browser or 
editor, but offers some additional functionality when browsed with
a program like SDCMS, the Structured Document Content Management 
System.
 
The SD file format is ideal for creating documentation hierarchies
that are portable across a vast number of platforms.
