It's said that Cortez, IIRC, burned his ships when reaching the new
world to give his men incentive. That's what it took for me, too. I
was laid off, and decided I simply couldn't go back to another
Win32/VC++ job. And despite being a vi-head, I figured I'd try emacs
again, this time with SLIME. Now that I have, I'll never go back to
vi.

answering my questions.
Second, I want to thank Python for (a) giving me something I could use
at work that had some of the features of Lisp and (b) finally driving
me back to the original :-)
