It just occurred to me that I know enough of the right people to
arrange a smooth conference here in Istanbul. ILC is supposed to
alternate between Europe and the US, so '04 or '06 might be possible.
Travel would be no problem for folks from Europe and direct flights are
available from Chichago (10 hrs) and JFK (8 hrs). As far as I know, I
am the only professonal lisper here so it would be convenient for
nobody else, but still this is ostensibly a fantastic city to visit
and it might be a good excuse for many folks to come here. Lemme know
if this is a nutty idea.

cheers,

BM

I like that idea. But I'm astonished that it is planned to alternate at
all between the US and Europe. From this newsgroup I get the impression
that most of the Lisp folks are in the US, and then this would imply more
hours of travel in total.

By the way: what about organizing the conference around 29.3.2006? I had
bad weather during the solar eclipse in 2001, and I would like to see
something like that without clouds once in my life. Of course, the hotel
prizes will be rather high then.

Nicolas.

Most of the "big names" are US'ian, but I know of several Australian and
European Lisp users and having the conference in Istanbul would make it
easier for them (well, the European ones, at least :-). Maybe organizers
could target some of the corporate folk whose companies are involved in
Lisp for keynotes and focus on the business side of Lisp this time.
Although this may be less interesting to the target audience. Just a
thought...
