I have a question about doing a Genera installation. I'm doing a re-install
of genera and I'm getting stuck on restoring the distribution worlds from
CDROM. It's chapter six of the Genera 8.3 installation guide. Step 1 says:
"Insert the Genera 8.3 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive at your site. Type the
CP command Select Activity FEP-Tape. In the FEP-Tape activity, type the
command: Read Image File"
I can't figure out how to get into the FEP-Tape activity. I think that I'm
supposed to be in the FEP prompt and type "Select Activity FEP-Tape" or use
the "Select" key as some kind of key-combination to do this, but it's a
little unclear in the installation guide.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
--Bruce

CP is the Command Processor. If you have Genera running,
log in and type Select Activity FEP-Tape to a Listener.
The FEP is below that (something like LILO or OpenPROM).
The Command Processor (the Listener) runs when
you have started a Lisp Listener.

Rainer,
Thanks for the help. I thought it might be something like that. I'm still
getting my bearings with Genera, but I'm having fun figuring it out.
Best regards,

http://fare.tunes.org/LispM.html has some information about
Symbolics Lisp Machines, including a few paragraphs on setting up a
MacIvory.
