There's also a version of ImageMagick comiled as a dll that you should be able
to call from lisp.

i haven't got Windows but Debian

If it is a .dll it was probably a .so some time back.  (A look at the 
web site shows that).

Since you seem to like Free Software, now you have the chance to 
contribute a UFFI binding for ImageMagick.
