Thanks to all responders!

It now works as desired. I introduced some nicknames for the package
and made the export as

(:exports "FRGO-FUNCTION")

This is OK in my ACL 6.2 Trial ANSI and, as I understood from your
posts, should also be working in all conforming implementations.
