Hello all,
The company I work for has just announced that it will be cutting a
large number of jobs due to financial difficulties. I have only
been working there for two months, so of course I was the
first to be made redundant. If you know anyone who would be
interested in my skills please forward this message to them.
I know it's a long shot, given the shortage of LISP jobs and my
relative inexperience with LISP, but I am very keen to learn and I
have plenty of experience with other languages.
Thanks very much for your help.

I have a Ph.D. in pure mathematics and two years of commercial
computer programming experience.

I have been programming computers in my spare time since the age of 9
and I would say I am particularly proficient in Java, C and Scheme
(these are my favourite languages). I can also write good C++,
Javascript, LISP and Bash shell scripts.

Aside from 'real' programming languages, other languages I have a good
knowledge of include HTML, SQL and LaTeX.

I have a good grasp of both the theoretical aspects of computing (e.g.
computational complexity) and the more practical aspects (e.g. TCP/IP
socket programming, pthreads, several GUI toolkits).

My commercial experience has been in a closed source environment,
however, I am also familiar with the legalities of working with open
source software in a business context (including knowledge of
GPL, LGPL and BSD licenses). I have excellent communication skills
and have written a number of reports for internal and external use
(tailoring the content and language to the reader).

Having started using Unix in 1995 with Sun Solaris, I moved on to Linux
in 1999 and have set up and maintained the most common Linux based servers
(Apache, Samba, etc).

I have contributed, in my spare time, to several Free/Open Source
projects and have plans for several future contributions.
