Hi,

I've just installed CMUCL 18c from a freshly cvsup'ed FreeBSD 4.5-STABLE
ports tree. Installation went fine. I type 'lisp' and the interpreter comes
up, but I can't do much of anything because the left paren key produces
backspace!

This is on a brand-new FreeBSD installation.

What am I missing?

TIA. Cheers.

Hi,

I have the same problem when I try to use CMUCL from ATERM in X-
Windows (I use FreeBSD 4.4-STABLE). When I run CMUCL in any other
terminal emulator, everything works just fine. I'm assuming there is
slight incompitability between CMUCL's and ATERM's keycodes.

In any case this is not a major annoyance, since I don't see why it
would be necessary to run Lisp directly from the shell. Moreover,
CMUCL (unlike CLISP) offers no editing functions whatsoever, so it
is advisable to run CMUCL in EMACS, which allows line editing and
has command history.

Regards,
  Richard

Ahh. In my case, I'm using rxvt.

You're right. After CMUCL I'll be installing Emacs and ILisp. I just wanted
to test that CMUCL was ok. ;-)

Thanks for the reply. Cheers.
