Have anybody managed to get mod_lisp from fractalconcept.com up
and running?

Got this in apaches error-log:

[Thu Nov 15 23:59:12 2001] [notice] SIGUSR1 received. Doing graceful restart
[Thu Nov 15 23:59:12 2001] [notice] Apache/1.3.22 (Unix) Debian/GNU mod_lisp/2.0beta1 configured -- resuming normal operations
[Thu Nov 15 23:59:12 2001] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/lib/apache/suexec)
[Thu Nov 15 23:59:12 2001] [notice] Accept mutex: sysvsem (Default: sysvsem)
[Thu Nov 15 23:59:30 2001] [notice] child pid 18529 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)
[Thu Nov 15 23:59:48 2001] [notice] child pid 18528 exit signal Segmentation fault (11)

I used the pre-built module mod_lispl.so. Have no lisp running, but the
error above comes from a "GET /" - request.

ideas?

It works for me on a couple of different servers (Linux and FreeBSD) -
but I've built it from source. This is rather easy with apxs if your
Apache has DSO support.

Edi.

PS: I _think_ I remember seeing similar error messages when I first
tried one of the pre-built modules. Must be a version conflict or
something like that.

Ok, have to roll up my sleeves, get apache sources and
start building. Thanks.

If you build a debian binary, please send it to me I will put it on the
mod_lisp download page.

I shall. Thanks. J.

Thank you for several e-mails with advice.

I was able to compile it on my debian unstable with these steps:

1. apt-get install apache-dev ; to obtain the apxs program

2. ln -s /etc/apache/httpd.conf /etc/apache/apache.conf ; the apxs
program wanted to see apache.conf, not httpd.conf, this is probably
a debian issue.

3. apxs -c -i -a mod_lisp.c
which produced the following output:

[····@egg root]# apxs -c -i -a mod_lisp.c
gcc -DLINUX=22 -DEAPI -DTARGET="apache" -I/usr/include/db1 -DUSE_HSREGEX -DUSE_EXPAT -I../lib/expat-lite -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -fpic -DSHARED_MODULE -I/usr/include/apache-1.3  -c mod_lisp.c
gcc -shared -o mod_lisp.so mod_lisp.o -lc -lm -lcrypt -ldb1 -ldb
[activating module `lisp' in /etc/apache/apache.conf]
cp mod_lisp.so /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_lisp.so
chmod 755 /usr/lib/apache/1.3/mod_lisp.so
cp /etc/apache/apache.conf /etc/apache/apache.conf.bak
cp /etc/apache/apache.conf.new /etc/apache/apache.conf
rm /etc/apache/apache.conf.new
[····@egg root]#

The command added a LoadModule line. I had to correct that, specifying
an absolute path to mod_lisp.so.

In httpd.conf, I also added

LispServer 127.0.0.1 3000 "fractal"
<Location /asp>
SetHandler lisp-handler
</Location>

But I was not able to insert the lines
 ClearModuleList
 AddModule mod_lisp.c
into httpd.conf, without command
 apachectl configtest
complaining about "invalid command .. in server configuration"
(ref the "install page",
http://www.fractalconcept.com/asp/sdataQInxZvEKM0cmDM==/sdataQuqh-N3qe0jUC1B=
)

Also, if no lisp-process is running, the server will return an
"internal server error".
