Thanks for al the pointers to all of you.

It seems that amazon.co.uk does indeed have copies (many stores list
having copies but don't really have any).. they shipped mine today... 

anybody who needs On Lisp, get it now! :)

Amazon US says that the book is out-of-print.  Amazon UK says 4 to 6 weeks.
I've emailed Amazon US, pointed them to the Amazon UK answer, and asked them
to pursue it.

Incidentally, if anyone has a used copy they'd be willing to part with,
