Subject: Ilisp and LispWorks on *Windows*

Has anyone got ilisp to work with LispWorks on Windows?
(I realise that it would be easy on linux / Unix, but I don't have
that option just now).
Thanks

I did as of a couple of years ago. I havn't tried lately, but you
should go to this link:
http://ilisp.cons.org/download.html
and see if the latest version there works for you.

I asked Xanalys support about this a few months ago and was quickly
sent a patch that made ilisp work with LWW. The latest patch bundle
seems to have included the patch they sent me.

Is that patch already mentioned in the current ILISP documentation? If not,
can you tell something more about the patch (e.g. its name, how to get it,
whether the latest LW version superseeds it, etc.) so that we can add some
information in the documentation?

I do not believe these patches are mentioned in the current ilisp
documentation. However, they are mentioned in the README for the LWW
4.1.20 patch bundle. Here's the relevant line:
Fix interaction with ILISP/Emacs20. LSC #7270. Fix timing-related bug which happens when socket stream operations are done without multiprocessing. LSC #7727, #7291

It would help ILISP immensely if this patches were not kept "private"
by any party.

What are you talking about? These patches are in the latest patch
bundle avaliable for download on the Xanalys web site! Just how do
you figure that anyone is keeping these patches private?

There is one distribution of ILISP (of which I happen to be one of the
maintainers). While my use of the term "private" may have been wrong,
the concept I wanted to convey is that the maintainers of ILISP may
not have the time and or resources to keep track of all the patches
that are out there.
I simply want to encourage any people who find some patches useful for
ILISP, to submit them to the ILISP mailing list for inclusion into the
CVS repository.
That's all.
Cheers

Just to clarify even more. I cannot and will not oppose a separate
distribution of ILISP.
Of course, this has not yet happened AFAIK. ILISP development is
pretty fast right now. It is true that there has not been a "true"
release for quite some time, but CVS snapshots have been available for
quite some time now. So, I want to encourage people to stick with the
current setup.

Daily snapshots of the ILISP CVS source tree are available at:

As I understand it, Xanalys' patches is patches to LispWorks to make
it interact better with ILISP, not the other way round. There is no
patches to ILISP in the patch bundle.

Thanks for the clarification. I have abosolutely no qualms with that
and I am glad that Xanalys is doing such a thing.

The patches we are discussing are for _LispWorks_, not for ILISP.

The latest version in Sourceforge CVS should contain some patches that
will help in your case.

The latest ILISP CVS sources include fixes and tips (see file INSTALLATION)
that should make it work. Daily snapshots of the CVS tree are available at:

P.S.
In cause you are interested, we now have a mailing list for change logs
which is separate from the general discussion and development ones.
