TECHNICAL PAPERS

The ECOOP 2001 conference invites high quality papers reporting research
results and/or experience related to the object technology. Research
papers should describe work that advances the current state of the art.
Experience papers should be of broad interest and should describe insights
gained from practical application of object technology - of use to other
researchers and practitioners. The programme committee will evaluate each
contributed research and experience paper based on its relevance, significance,
clarity, originality, and correctness.
Suggested topics related to the object oriented paradigm include, but
are not limited to:

       Analysis and design methods
       Concurrent, real-time, and parallel systems
       Database and object persistence
       Design patterns
       Distributed and mobile systems
       Frameworks and software architectures
       Language design and implementation
       Object testing and metrics
       Programming environments
Reflections, adaptability, composability, and reusability issues
       Theoretical foundation, formal methods

Papers must be submitted in two phases. In the first phase the abstract of
the paper written in English must be electronically submitted before (and
including) November 13, 2000. Submission will be possible starting October 24,
2000. In the second phase, the full paper must be electronically
submitted before November 27, 2000. The paper must be written in English,
and not longer than 10,000 words. Papers arriving late or clearly longer
than the limit may be rejected immediately solely for this reason.
Submission details, including the abstract and full paper formats as well
as the electronic address for sending papers will be available at the
general ECOOP 2001 web site:

       www.2001.ecoop.org from October 1st, 2000.

TUTORIALS

Traditionally, ECOOP 2001 hosts a two day tutorial programme. Proposals
for high-quality tutorials in all areas of object-orientation from academic
research to industrial applications are solicited. Tutorial levels may be
introductory, intermediate, and advanced. Novel topics and topics of broad
interest are preferred. Proposers can get the guidelines for tutorial
submission via WWW:

       www.2001.ecoop.org/tutorial.

Both plain paper and electronic submission are accepted.
Deadlines:

       Proposal submission: November 13, 2000

WORKSHOPS

As in previous years, ECOOP 2001 will host a number of workshops addressing
different areas of objet-oriented technology. Workshops serve as a
forum for exchanging late breaking ideas and theories in an evolutionary
stage. They typically focus on either in depth analysis or broad-ranging
approaches to areas related to object-oriented technology. Guidelines for
the submission of workshop proposals are available at:

       www.2001.ecoop.org/workshop

Deadlines:

       Proposal submission: November 13, 2000
Notification of acceptance: January 15, 2001
Workshop call for papers: February 12, 2001

PANELS

Panel sessions addressing important and timely topics in objet-orientation
will be included in the main conference. They should present interesting
and divergent views with solid practical and/or theoretical backing. A good
panel session can be the highlight of the official programme for many
attendees. Proposers should request the guidelines for panel proposals from
the address below or get them via WWW:

       www.2001.ecoop.org/panel

Deadlines:

       Proposal submission: December 18, 2000
Notification of acceptance: February 19, 2001

       E-mail: ·····@2001.ecoop.org

DEMONSTRATIONS

Live demonstrations of all kinds of object-oriented software will be presented
at the conference. Technical members of the implementation teams are
expected to give the demonstrations. Proposals are solicited for both
commercial and in-house systems, as well as academic and corporate research.
Demonstration will be selected on the basis of technical merit, novelty and
relevance to object-oriented technology. Product marketing and sales
presentations are inappropriate for this forum. Proposers should request the

POSTERS

Posters provide an easy and informal means for presenting ongoing research
to the ECOOP audience. This may be especially useful for new ideas that
have not yet been developed to the point of a regular paper. PhD students
are particularly encouraged to submit a proposal describing their work.
Time will be arranged during the conference for poster authors to discuss
their work directly with interested participants. Proposers can get the
guidelines for poster submission via WWW:

       www.2001.ecoop.org/poster
