Hi!

I tried to make zebu-3.4.8 work with CMUCL. After some struggles
I've got it apparently working (at 8 a.m. :-), but I found two
bugs in it, which I'd like to report to the maintainer. Does
anybody know if there is one? Or did I just get some very old
version of Zebu and found a bug which somebody else found years
ago?

Regards,

Well, David Young got it running and has made defsystem files
available (announced them about two months ago on c.l.l), and so did I
(at <http://www.sbox.tu-graz.ac.at/home/r/rudi/>). So we're three
now. :)

Latest version is 3.5.5, available e.g. at Digitool's ftp site
(<ftp://ftp.digitool.com/pub/mcl/contrib/zebu-3.5.5.tgz>). The author
has been unreachable but the license is GPL, so there has been some
talk about packaging Zebu up for inclusion into CLOCC. What kept me
personally back (apart from my thesis) is that I would like to clean
it up a bit (don't place symbols in the CL-USER package) and nuke the
alternate ways of loading the system (which account for roughly a
third of the files in the package) but do not yet have the guts to
remove functionality and re-publish a system I did not write.

AFAIR, the discussion in the CLOCC stopped at the point where it was
clear that not all of ZEBU can be considered GPL. Hence the system is
not DFSG compliant and therefore cannot make it in the CLOCC.

I pretty much agree with the above.

Cheers

That's correct. The latest word is that a part of Zebu is not covered under the
GPL and the author of that piece can't or won't release the code to GPL. The Zebu
version I enhanced with MK:DEFSYSTEM and CMUCL support can be found, at least for
now, at http://sourceforge.net/projects/lisa. It might not be there much longer
if I'm not allowed to host it.
