Hi
I'm trying to build the OSF/Motif server from
cmucl-src-branch18b-20000621 on Linux 2.2.14 SMP, with a Lesstif build
of December 1999 installed; I have GCC 2.95.2 with all standard C and C++
libraries and includes installed in their default places.
Build fails as follows:
cd /home/simon/add-ons/seamew/src/motif/server/
make -k
make: *** No rule to make target `Interface.h', needed by `requests.o'.
make: *** No rule to make target `StringTable.h', needed by `tables.o'.
make: *** No rule to make target `ClassTable.h', needed by `tables.o'.
make: *** No rule to make target `TypeTable.h', needed by `tables.o'.
make: Target `motifd' not remade because of errors.
None of the above header files are included in the CMU CL tarball, and
none are in the Lesstif includes; having carefully scanned through my
Motif documentation (which admittedly is pretty old) I can't see any
reference to them there either.
So: does anyone know what package these headers belong to, and where I
can find it?
Many thanks
Simon.

I'm pretty sure these are generated when you compile the lisp files.
After you compile them, the .h files should appear.
I can say that Lesstif definitely does work. However, I'm not sure
18b is a recent enough version. (Some silly bugs were fixed in the
lisp files.)

I'd recommend dropping LessTif for good:

That doesn't allow us to use it on anything but Linux and FreeBSD.

Indeed. Despite the hype, it doesn't meet the Open Source definition
and is a very long way from being free.
I'll stick with LessTif for a while yet.
Oh, and, Martin (and the rest of the gang), congrats on the Linux port
- it really is very good. Do you know where one can get hold of a copy
of 'doc/motif-toolkit.doc' that's mentioned in the man page?

There are no messages. The above is just a random stream of

You may want to check the EncyCMUCLopedia, see my signature below.
