Responsibilities:
Major responsibilities include:
- perform software development activities in creating tailored CAD/CAE
systems and tools involving shaped products and tooling
- provide consulting to Alcoa R&D colleagues and business unit
personnel in areas involving engineering and scientific computing,
including web-based computing
Background: Alcoa Technical Center, a resource within the Alcoa Inc.
which is engaged in the research and development of aluminum and
related materials, is seeking qualified candidates to work in the
Product Design & Development organization. The position is located near
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Degree Requirements: Master of Science or PhD, or equivalent, in
Engineering/Physics/ Mathematics with strong emphasis in computing.
Experience: Academic or previous work experience with software
development involving computer-aided-design (computational geometry),
computer graphics, and/or numerical methods.
Other Requirements: Academic or previous work experience with languages
such as Fortran, C/C++, and CAD/CAE programming is a must. Familiarity
with Lisp is desirable.
Other Comments: The Product Design & Development organization at the
Alcoa Technical Center provides Alcoa business units with technologies
for the design of Alcoa materials, products, and process
equipment/tooling.
