I thought that (make-application-frame 'my-dialog :calling-frame
*application-frame*) might do the trick but it doesn't.

accepting-values has an :own-window keyword that creates a modal dialog
that is close to what I want, but I would like to create my own modal
frame with custom panes.  Any insights as to how this can be done are
appreciated.
