I've got a really fun project that's been on the back burner for about a year.
We're bringing it forward to the middle burners, and expect it to be on the
front burners in a couple of months.

I've got a webcentric change management product which uses browser clients, java
applet file system agents, and other goodies to solve web-related CM problems,
in particular, distributed development and deployment of web content.

The engine is written in ACL5 lisp, using the Allegrostore product. The client
UI's will consist of web browsers, perl command line scripts, and integration
with other tools via socket protocols. This is a 3-tier solution.

Qualified candidates should have as many of the following characteristics
as possible:

- A seasoned software enginner (CS degree(s), many years exp. preferred)
If you don't think you can pound out a working subset of protocols like SMTP
or POP in a couple of days, this job isn't right for you.

- Interest in change management
(perhaps you always wanted to 1-up the Genera CM capabilities)

You'll really impress me if you can tell me the way that change integration
works in the CDC UPDATE CM system :-)

- Comfortable undertaking large scale coding challenges, tough algorithmic
   work, and implementing scaleable solutions.

For instance, this is a distributed change engine, and a big piece of that
is a distributed dictionary with all kinds of object relocation and mapping
   on import/export.

Familiarity with compression, caching, load balancing, and PKI
   capabilities a definite plus.

- Willing to work your butt off to ship a new, RELIABLE, webcentric product this
   year.

   9-to-5'ers need not apply. Really.

- Knowledgeable in the ways of driving HTML UI's from from server engines
(lisp, java, IE3&4, NS3&4, signed certificates, whatever. Familiar with
ins and outs of HTML, HTTP, and all the related RFCs for URIs, SSL, etc)

We have our own HTTP server. CL-HTTP isn't out of the question, but
for now, we usually roll our own if there isn't a freely available and
unencumbered bit of code out there.

- Experience with XML including XML standards, XML use, and XML tools
  (such as XML parsers).

For now I'm looking for one, maybe two people. That will bring the project to
2, maybe 3 people total. We'll be a small advanced development group within
an company of 65 people, and will stay deliberately lean and mean as long as
possible.

I won't kid you, there is lots of pressure to deliver substantial milestones on
this project with minimal resources and time. This is not a 40 hr/week job.
But we can pay well if you can do the work, and it's really a fun and new
project.

Lisp is used to get good bang for developer buck, but the solution requires
programming in numerous languages. I try to keep all the complicated logic in
the lisp server. Grunge work like FFI, C, and other things will likely be a
part of the solution, as well as Java and perl. Need a "do what it takes"
attitude.

If you're interested, please send me some email, a resume, and a phone
number (which is presumably on your resume anyway...).

I'm looking to move quickly, the sooner you can join the better.

A couple of important notes on the previous post:

The job is in Waltham MA, relocation is not available. Flexible face time
arrangements might be possible.
