Displaced? The Huns ceased to exist as an entity in the 6th century,
some 400 years before the Hungarians came. (I don't know if entity
is the best word, but AFAIK they were not a nation or an ethnos
but some sort of a union of several ethnic groups or tribes.)

Do you mean that `Hungarian' originates from `Hun'?

By the way, the theory I know says that Hungarian, (H)ou(n)gri, somes
from Onogunduri which was the name of one of the Old Bulgarian tribes
under whose rule the Magyars had been for a certain period of time.
(The Old Bulgarians came to the Balkans in the 7th century, conquered
the Slavs and established the (First) Bulgarian State. Three centuries
later it fought a few wars with the Magyars as they were moving towards
Central Europe through what is now Romania.)
