Basically I want something that'll give me that
nice syntax coloring that the other language mode
lisp packages give ...

Using XEmacs 20.4 (or 21.1), both Emacs Lisp mode (for Emacs Lisp
files) and ILISP Lisp mode (for CL) provide for syntax highlighting
through font-lock mode. Just be sure to have font-lock mode (a minor
mode) enabled. BTW: Why did the color scheme of font-lock mode
change in 21.1?
