I have the experimental version (18a+ CVS 2.4.4, 1998-06-25) running
on RedHat 5.1/Intel, though I didn't do much with it yet (I've just
switched to RedHat a few days ago). At least RedHat 5.1 does have an
RPM libc-5.3.12-27, which contains compatibility libs for programs
built with libc5 (the package does include some more libs, not only
libc5); I'd guess that's what the distributed binaries use.
