GTE laboratories' Intelligent Systems Department is
looking for an experienced and motivated UNIX programmer
to join a team maintaining and enhancing SSCFI, a large
diagnostic expert system for telecommunications
circuits.  Responsibilities will include:

- maintenance and debugging of various system components
  including SSCFI configuration, UNIX workstations,
  Web site, GUI interface, and machine-to-machine
  communications;

- helping the field administrators handle user problems;

- maintenance and enhancement of all components of the
  system;

Significant programming skills are required. The
candidate must be familiar with UNIX, C, object-oriented
programming, and shell scripting, and comfortable in a
heterogeneous programming environment -- ours includes
C++, Tcl, SQL, Java, and HTML in addition to the items
mentioned above.  Experience with expert systems, LISP,
or telephony would be a plus.  We are looking for an
creative and energetic individual who learns quickly, is
self-motivated, and wants to make a difference.

Education/Experience:

BS/MS in Computer Science or related field. 3-5 years
industrial experience is preferred.

This position is a contract position.
