so we're thinking about RPC and Allegro/Lucid. Allegro ships some rpc
code in the contrib subdirectory, but it's from xerox, it's old, and
it's not CL, apparently. I looked at it, and it's certainly got some
stuff if it I didn't recognize...

and the readme says would someone please port this to CL...

so my Q is: has anyone done this? can you give away the code?

ps. the summary on corba is look at ilu, from xerox. it ain't corba,
but it might close enough to hack the remaining distance...and
subsequently it may turn out that I don't have to go that approach at
all, I may be able to include an existing C library in my lisp and
just do a little bit of c-code wrapping to get at the info I need. or
I may move this portion out of the lisp entirely and into the gui...
