I am new to this list so may be bringing up an old line of discussion.
I subscribed here since I use a statistics package called XLispStat often
and thought this news group would help me understand LISP better. I'm
sure once I have been reading this group for a while it will help.
I just saw 'jaschnel' summarize his survey on what Lisp features people
want and saw the first wish on the list was
'Graphics, graphics, graphics, and if you can't do
that, I'd like to be able to at least move the
cursor around the screen.'
The package I mentioned above, XLispStat, was specifically developed for,
and I quote,
'An object oriented environment for statistical
computing and dynamic graphics.'
I am developing a multivariate visualization statistical approach with
interactive graphics which allow a lot more than just moving a cursor
around. It provides a graphic (e.g. scatter-plot, histogram) as an object
with components (points, lines, curves, axes, etc) which can be manipulated
independently and interactively.
It may provide a LISP environment for those people wanting to
do graphics. For those who are interested check out the book:
Lisp-Stat: An Object Oriented Environment for Statistical
Computing and Dynamic Graphics.

The book gives instructions on downloading it over the network.
I would also love to hear directly from anyone who is using this package.
