Ooooh, now..., I know this one ..., don't tell me ..., errmmm....

In the FAQ, section 4 posted not two days ago.

Gordon.

(was I right? :-)

P.S. I think the general consensus the last time that this came up was
that (A)KCL is the only one for NeXT, and that there is *no* chance of CMUCL
being ported to the 68040 in the NeXT, but you can get it for Sun/SPARC.

More specifically FTP to rascal.ics.utexas.edu and

        cd /pub
        bi
        get NeXT-akcl-1-615.tar.Z # For NeXT
        get akcl-1-615.tar.Z # For Sun

and follow instructions. This works for NeXTstep 2.x. If you have NeXTstep
3.0 you will need an additional patch. If you do let me know and I will
post.

CMUCL folks believe that the next NeXT is going to be a RISC instead of a
68060 (nobody knows) and they don't believe that the native code compiler
for now is worth it, otherwise they will do it. If anyone wants to port the
native code stuff to the 68040 they said "They would fully support that
effort".
