NETWORK CYBERNETICS CORPORATION
PRESS RELEASE - September 1, 1992

NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT: Network Cybernetics Corporation
announces the release of the "AI CD-ROM". The AI CD-ROM is an
ISO-9660 format CD-ROM readable on any computer platform with a
CD-ROM drive. The AI CD-ROM contains a large assortment of
software related to artificial intelligence, artificial life,
robotics, virtual reality, and other topics. Programs for OS/2,
MS-DOS, Macintosh, Amiga, UNIX, and other operating systems are
included. Research papers, tutorials, and other text files are
included in ASCII, RTF, and other universal formats. The files
have been collected from AI bulletin boards, Internet archive
sites, University computer departments, and other government
and civilian AI research organizations. Network Cybernetics
Corporation intends to release annual revisions to the AI CD-ROM
to keep it up to date with current developments in the field.
The disc is available directly from Network Cybernetics
Corporation for $129.00 per copy.

The AI CD-ROM includes collections of files that address many
specific AI/AL topics including:

        - Expert Systems: NASA CLIPS v5.1 complete with documentation
and architecture manual in multiple formats as well as many
public domain and shareware expert systems.

        - Neural Networks: Source code and executables for many
different platforms including UNIX, DOS, and Macintosh. ANN
development tools, example networks, sample data, and tutorials
are included. A complete collection of Neural Digest is
included as well.

-Genetic Algorithms: GA examples and source code. A complete
collection of Genetic Algorithm Digest. Research papers related
to GAs.

-Fuzzy Logic: Tutorials on what it is and examples of how it
works.

-Linguistics/Natural Language: The largest collection of
derivations of ELIZA ever assembled including source code in
every imaginable language from Prolog to dbaseIII. English word
lists. Text analyzers, manglers, and generators. Language
tutorials. Language translators. Natural Language Knowledge
Representation Digest back issues.

-Robotics: Source code for controlling and managing various
types of robotic equipment. Sources for low cost parts.
Tutorials and utilities for the PC robotics experimenter.

-Virtual Reality: Source code and schematics for using
available equipment with PCs. Demos of commercial VR programs
and toolkits. VR development tools.

-Artificial Life/Evolution simulations: Source code and
executables for many of the famous AL simulators. Many well
known AL simulators, such as Computer Zoo, for DOS machines are
included as well. Easy to understand tutorials on evolutionary
processes and natural selection.

-Machine Vision: Complete set of Vision-List Digest. Image
processing programs and source code.

-Prolog: Many public domain and shareware Prolog derivations
for several platforms. Development tools and source code as
well as examples.

-Lisp/Xlisp: Many different versions of Lisp and Xlisp for
nearly all popular computer platforms and complete C source for
some that can be ported to new platforms. Much of the Lisp
source code and many utilities from the Internet Lisp archive
site.

-Many other programming languages with compilers/interpreters
and source code examples including Scheme, XScheme, Forth,
C/C++, SNOBOL, COBOL, ADA, BASIC, Pascal, Modula-2, Oberon, and
many others.

-Other topics: Machine learning, theorem proving programs,
simulations, chaos, the complete transcripts of the first annual
Loebner Prize competition, and much more.

All files on the disc are compressed using Pkzip. Un-zip
utilities (either executables or C source code) for all
platforms are included on the disc. Some files or file
collections originating on machines which do not conform to the
ISO 9660 file naming standard are further archived in platform
specific formats, such as UNIX TAR format, which preserve the
original file names. Where possible unarchiving utilities for
these additional formats have also been included for all
platforms. The discs root directory contains a master file list
with descriptions and several DOS utilities for more easily
locating and copying the files to the host computer. The rest
of the disc is divided into subdirectories by topic and each
directory contains a separate list of it's contents.

Addendum to AI CD-ROM press release [for electronic distribution only].

Because of the tremendous help of the on-line AI community in
helping with the locations and collection of the files on the AI
CD-ROM, Network Cybernetics Corporation is offering the disc to
everyone in the Usenet and Fidonet realm for a special,
discounted price of $59.00 per disc (plus the same
shipping/handling costs as in the regular deal).

We would also like to extend our thanks to all of the people
out there who help make this disc possible by sending
submissions, granting permissions for including files, and
helping with the collection and evaluation process. As
mentioned in the general press release, we intend to revise and
update this disc once a year. If anyone has comments,
complaints, suggestions, or submissions for the next disc they
can be sent to the postal address in the press release, faxed to
Network Cybernetics Corporation at 214-650-1929, or sent via
e-mail to ········@ocitor.fidonet.org. We are looking into
getting direct internet access before the end of the year and
hope to have an FTP site for submission the next time around -
hopefully under the designation "ncc.com".

For anyone who wants it, here is a handy order form that you
can print out and send to the address in the press release along
with your check or money order. Please remember that this
discount applies only to on-line service users and not the
general public.
